Grubstake Pizza (250-427-5227)

started life as the Grubstake Diner which was opened February 1992 by Heather & David McFadden. As pizza was the feature item at the diner it made sense to concentrate on this portion of the business, continuing to bake really awesome pizza and offering the best service in town. The new space was designed to be an efficient pizza manufactory and has increased the capacity to accommodate your special requests at any time.

What happens when someone mentions pizza? Your mouth waters in anticipation of biting into that crunchy crust, the strings of cheese after you have taken a bite, and that fresh, spicy tomato sauce filling the mouth.

These are all well and good, but don't you also remember friends? Pizza days back in school, sharing pizza and a nice bottle of vino with a friend or lover, or washing it down with beer after a slow-pitch game. Pizzas are not to be eaten alone, they are meant to be shared.

The next time you want to share a moment, do it over a Grubstake Pizza.

The foundation for our pizzas - the crust - has been developed over a number of years. Predominantly a white flour dough, we add a touch of whole wheat flour for a bit of crunch and obviously some dietary fibre. (In British Columbia 47% of the population prefers whole wheat while 36% prefer white, the rest don't care.)

Top this with a special home made tomato sauce, using the finest crushed pear shaped tomatoes, add a mixture of mozzarella cheeses and bake it in a clay lined gas fired pizza oven and you have the foundation of a truly memorable pizza.

A number of special pizza's are offered. May we suggest the Canadian, the Mexican, or perhaps an Apple Pie Pizza for dessert. You are also welcome to create you own specialty from our extensive list of meat and vegetable toppings.
